Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)

The organization has involved more than ten million youth since its founding in 1945. The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on a variety of youth concerns, including parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, sustainability, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career preparation in four specific Career Pathways. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.

FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (Formally known as Future Homemakers of America). It is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Science education in public and private schools through grades 6-12. Students have the opportunity to compete in Star Events ranging from Region, State, and National level. FCCLA has more than 200,000 members and nearly 5,500 chapters from 50 state associations, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
